A short Message from the Owner

Our flat (4g) is situated in Napitia Hills in Pizzo, in the region Vibo Valentia in Calabria. The area is on the slope towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, about a 25-minute-walk down to the public beach and Piazza delle Republica. In 5 minutes you are at Via Nationale where you can buy fresh bread for breakfast or a cappuchino at Franco who speaks English and has been in Gothenburg harbour for one month. Right below the area is a newly built shopping mall where every daily product may be found.

The garden is surrounded by a verdant wall with a view of the sea for miles and beautiful sunsets at night. There is a table and chairs and sun beds with cushions. The public swimming pool in the area is about 150 meters away – also with a view of the sea. There are showers here and sun beds with a “roof”. Perfect for a morning dip before breakfast or to cool down after a hot day on the beach.

Development

Napitia Hills is perched at the most elevated point of Pizzo providing each property with unobstructed, panoramic sea views over the town its self. With a walking time of only 15 minutes you can enjoy the day to day lifestyle of an Italian local in the central Piazza and really take part in the towns all year round festivities. Close to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants this location gives you the option of a great base should you wish to discover the region of Calabria and maybe take the hour and a half trip to Sicily or you may just want to lounge around on your ample roof terrace and soak up the glorious sunshine taking the odd short stroll back through classic Italian history and culture. Either way, with this new development you really do have a multitude of options when it comes to holidays or rental potential.

Comprised of 1 to 2 bed apartments and 3 bed 2 bath villas, there is a property here for you no matter what your requirements. The development has vast, open spaces designated to the community including green areas to barbecue and socialise and large communal pools to cool yourself in.

A Short Message from the Owner

Pizzo is an old fishing village situated on a steep hillside where the houses “climb” down towards Marina di Pizzo and the public beach with turquoise blue water and showers. Here are also a number of restaurants. On Saturday evenings the locals (all categories and ages) meet here to go for walks, eat good food and maybe listen to music performed live in front of one of the restaurants. On Saturday evenings there is a jewellery market close to the beach and on every Thursday there is a food market in one of “our” streets, a 10-minute-walk from the flat.

At the beach and the harbour there is a steep cliff with the castle Murat on top. Close by is Piazza della Republica which is mainly known for three things; its fantastic position with a view of the sea for miles, its beautiful black paving and the numerous cafés which compete in getting you to try their Tartufo, the speciality of the region, a kind of ice cream cake, delicious. From Piazza della Republica winding alleys take you back to another era, here people still dry their washing on lines across the street. There are dazzling flower pots, palms and cactus in every little yard and terrace and a lot of small boutiques. If you are lucky you might catch sight of a car trying to move forward at 10 kilometres an hour in the otherwise car free streets.

A bit further up is Via Nationale which is the pulsating thoroughfare going below Napitia Hills where our flat is situated. Here you’ll find anything you might need, big supermarkets (supermercati) bakeries, shops selling vegetables, fish, meat, furniture, clothes, banks, hairdressers´ and of course lots of bars and cafés. This is where the Italians themselves go on errands and go shopping.

Excursions
From San Giovanni which is situated about 100 kilometres south of Pizzo there are ferries to beautiful and dramatic Sicily. On a clear day you can see the black magic island Stromboli (Fellini/Ingrid Bergman) from Pizzo. The ferries go all year round. During the height of the season ( April-October) there are also boats to adjacent islands- well worth a visit. Tropea is a bigger place south of Pizzo where you can actually see one or two tourists and souvenir shops. From here there is also a marvellous view from the main street lined by restaurants, boutiques and the handicraft from the area ( hand painted porcelain for example) You can take the local train from Pizzo (about 1 kilometre from the beach and the piazza) to Tropea (about 2 euros) It only takes 20 minutes. The train goes along the sea and you pass numerous small places and harbours on the way.

Transport
The closet airport is Lamezia Terme about 20 minutes by car from Pizzo. Here are some alternatives; Direct flight with Solresor from Arlanda during peak season, from Skavsta with Ryan Air( change of planes in Milano-Bergamo or Rome), with Airberlin with landing on route in Berlin ( booked automatically when you specify Lamezia as destination) Norwegian to Rome and from there Alitalia which has 8 flights/24 hours to Lamezia Terme. You can also fly to for example Rome, Naples (SAS), Brindisi and from there take the train to Lamezia or Pizzo. The Italian trains (Trenitalia) are fast, modern and at reasonable prices (from Rome to Lamezia it takes about 4 hours) Alternatively you can rent a car at the airport (can be booked in advance) Norwegian even flies to Catania in Sicily where you can rent a car and then go to Pizzo by ferry ( about one hour from the arrival in Calabria) You can book a taxi in advance at Concetta both at arrival and departure to the airport in Lamezia Terme. Design and furnishing
You enter the light kitchen/living room via a paved terrace and a sliding door in glass The kitchen is fully equipped, there is a dining area for 6 people and a triple sofa which is easily converted into a double bed. A bit further in is a bathroom and washing machine and a small hallway with wardrobes. A practical sliding door separates this part from the bedroom which has four beds, two beds in a sofa bed. There is plenty of storage in for example a big wall cabinet. This room gets light through the veranda door ( however the veranda is minimal). Of course the whole flat is equipped with air condition- both for heat and coolness. The flat has white stucco walls and a grey stone floor.
